Caroline McDougall will present the sixth show in the Trophy Room. McDougall is a artist living and working in London, who has had previous work in shows such as: ‘Travellers on the Earth, Wuhan, China.’ and ‘‘MILK, NO SUGAR’, Unit 9, Flying Horse Walk. Nottingham, UK.’
Caroline McDougall is an artist based in South London whose work explores the ideas of gender and sexuality through playful motifs and decorative sculpture.
Through her work she questions gender stereotypes and heteronormativity, and the impact they have upon the millennial generation.
She considers the importance her generation places upon aesthetics and how she herself is very influenced by them as evident through the ornamental element of her practice.
Her work is often a reaction to personal experiences and a way to express her concerns about the clichéd or bizarre yet typical encounters she has as a cisgender female.
Through her work she is asking the audience to consider the unrealistic stereotypes and expectations that we have often become accustomed to, and to consider their own relationship with sex and pleasure- to ask themselves does it really feel good?
