Miranda Webster was shortlisted for this year’s First Prize and was Highly Commended by the judging panel.
Miranda was born in Auckland, New Zealand in 1991 and studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux- Arts de Paris, France (2017-21).
Miranda will be talking about her Highly Commended work ‘Laid Out’, a painting informed by a wide range of inspiration including Pollaiuolo’s Apollo and Daphne, Holbein’s The Body of the Dead Christ in the Tomb, Mendieta’s Siluetas and an article about a funeral for a glacier. The artist asks: where should we put our sadness for everything that is not us?
Join us to hear directly from Miranda about how her work developed from this research and more about the process of making ‘Laid Out’.
