DESCRIPTION:Join us to go beyond the canvas and meet the brilliant minds be
 hind the prize-winning works of JMPP25. Hear the stories\, ideas and inspi
 rations that brought their paintings to life in a relaxed and welcoming se
 tting.\n\nMiranda Webster was shortlisted for this year’s First Prize an
 d was Highly Commended by the judging panel.\n\nMiranda was born in Auckla
 nd\, New Zealand in 1991 and studied at the École Nationale Supérieure d
 es Beaux- Arts de Paris\, France (2017-21).\n\nMiranda will be talking abo
 ut her Highly Commended work ‘Laid Out’\, a painting informed by a wid
 e range of inspiration including Pollaiuolo’s Apollo and Daphne\, Holbei
 n’s The Body of the Dead Christ in the Tomb\, Mendieta’s Siluetas and 
 an article about a funeral for a glacier. The artist asks: where should we
  put our sadness for everything that is not us?\n\nJoin us to hear directl
 y from Miranda about how her work developed from this research and more ab
 out the process of making ‘Laid Out’.\n\nWhether you're an art enthusi
 ast\, a curious creative\, or simply someone who loves a great conversatio
 n\, this is an unmissable opportunity to connect with some of the most exc
 iting voices in contemporary painting today.\n\nA small number of chairs w
 ill be provided for people who are unable to stand for an extended period 
 of time. The gallery is wheelchair accessible with a lift from ground to f
 irst floor galleries.  Due to this event taking place on gallery we are u
 nable to use amplification. We recommend this event for visitors aged 16+.
