Arena presents Automatic Colour Play for Light Night!
Friday 13 May 2016, Â 17.30 – 21.00
Arena opens its doors again for a fun participatory event for all the family. Let your artistic instincts take over and leave the work to the machines by creating your very own automatic artwork.
Inspired by the 2016 Light Night theme of ‘Experiment’, Arena is following in the footsteps of its artistic ancestors who have used the theory of automatic art, action painting and all kinds of mechanisms to enhance the artistic process. As Jackson Pollock and Willem De Kooning enjoyed the action of painting and Andre Breton pioneered the art of automatic drawing, you too can experience the joy of instinctive creation, but with a mechanical twist!
Join the Arena artists for a night of colourful creativity where art making machines and automatic processes will help you create your own experimental artwork to take away. If none of that takes your fancy, just come for a cuppa and piece of cake!
Entry to this event is free, with a small charge to take part in making an artwork. All proceeds support Arena studios and Gallery, as a charity which provides affordable studio spaces to artists and delivers a dynamic programme of events and exhibitions throughout the year.
Light Night Liverpool is on Friday 13 May and Arena is open 5pm – 9pm.
