Art in Liverpool launch new Digital Exhibitions

Art in Liverpool have launched a new section of the website dedicated to digital exhibitions. The page is filled with exhibitions which have bene cancelled or postponed due to Coronavirus, and some archive exhibitions from artists, studios and collectives in and around Merseyside.

These exhibition have been pulled together incredibly quickly by different people, in different circumstances, with different resources, so each is a unique reflection of their gallery, their exhibition or their work.

Some are filmed in 360, some include music and audio work. Some are filled with text and documentation relating to the work, while others simply present documentation as it would have been on the gallery wall.

We know that this can’t replace going in to see exhibitions in person, but this work deserves to be seen, and for those of you who have missed getting out and experiencing the independent creative spaces, this is an opportunity to remind yourself of what’s out there.

The exhibitions include:

As well as exhibitions there is also an archive of Africa Oye, and Krewe’s Mardi Gras Experience (recorded through visitors to the event earlier in the year).

None of the work is produced by Art in Liverpool, and we can’t take any credit for it. What we want to achieve here is a space that artists can treat as their own. Over the next few months while gallery visits are still going to be complicated and distanced, we hope this will evolve and include new exhibitions that emphasise the ongoing creative work of artists in the region.

Some links to exhibitions are in the list above, but for every one of them, take some time with the new listings here, and keep coming back for updates.

And if you’re an artist, studio or gallery find out how to submit your exhibitions here
