Artists, Lucy Moxon, Ryan Watkins and Dan Smyth are recent Fine Art graduates from Liverpool John Moores Uniersity. Earlier this year, these artists were awarded a 6 month residency at The Royal Standard Liverpool, starting in November 2016. Lucy, Ryan and Dan are three painters who make very different work. Although they love to discuss art, they value the act of ‘making’ and pride themselves on being extremely active artists. They have come together to create an art group entitled, ‘Vs’. On Friday 16th December, Vs invites you to their opening exhibition: ‘UNIVERSUS: Vs vs Rachel Cunningham Clarke’
During the six-month period of working within their new space; they have devised a program in which they work under the instructions of other people. All three artists are keen to explore and push their ideas through the minds of others. Their vision is to create art which has evolved from the curatorial ideas of renowned artists – both locally and globally.
Lucy, Ryan and Dan hope to build relationships with a variety of curators, painters and other creatives whom they will ask to dictate frameworks – within which, they must create art.
The first show introduces Vs to Rachel Cunningham Clark, a London based artist. Together, Vs and Rachel have become quite obsessed with astrological birth charts and the esoteric and ancient knowledge that surrounds this theme.

Also on Friday 16th December, The Royal Standard proudly presents ‘Storage Hunters: TRS Christmas Edition’; an experimental auction based on the hit TV series Storage Hunters. ‘Storage Hunters: The Royal Standard Christmas Edition’ is a launch event and fundraiser for the new premises, and will double as a Christmas celebration!
