We are thrilled to inform you that the internationally-acclaimed surface pattern designer and illustrator, Rachael Taylor and the Make it in Design team will be in Liverpool hosting Sketch Doodle Draw LIVE! on Monday May 16, 2016.
This FREE, meet, greet and sketch with Rachael Taylor session is designed to:
give you an opportunity to meet and chat with Rachael and watch her at work
help you loosen up, experiment and be spontaneous as Rachael always encourages this way of working, strongly believing there are no mistakes – so come along and just have fun
show you how to look for patterns in your surroundings where you’re guaranteed to see everyday things in a more beautiful way bring creativity to the community and show how drawing, sketching and doodling can be a useful way to de-stress in our everyday hectic lives and be enjoyable for all the family too give you a chance to get your work featured on the Make it in Design site and network with like-minded creatives!
Join Rachael Taylor and the Make it in Design team in the serene setting of the beautiful Palm House in Sefton Park, a Victorian glasshouse displaying plants from around the world.
In this BOTANICALS themed, informal event, Rachael will show you how she gathers pattern inspiration from nature – one of her favourite subject matters! She’ll explain how her early signature style of layering, textures and quirky hand drawn line-work developed and how these nature-inspired patterns have led to some of her most popular work to now feature on many different products including homeware, stationery, textiles and many others which are sold around the world.
Whether you’re a professional artist or a complete novice, we’d love you to join us. This free drawing event will provide much encouragement, fun and insight into the pattern techniques Rachael uses as a professional artist and give you the opportunity to meet the Make it in Design team, ask any questions and get creative!
Rachael will be on-site for three hours in the afternoon (from 12:30pm – 3:30pm) and during this time you can pop along for 20 minutes, an hour or for the full three hours – it’s a free for all, anything goes, no pressure, fun drawing activity for designers, friends and the local community.
As a free, open event, anyone visiting the Palm House that day – old and young – will be invited to join in too, the more the merrier!
We’ll be handing out FREE goody bags on a first come first served basis with sketch pads, pens and other delights, so come down early if you don’t want to miss out!
