A feature documentary by Nadia Shihab
90 min. Turkish, Arabic, English (2018)

This award-winning documentary follows filmmaker, Nadia Shihab, as she returns to her hometown in Lubbock, Texas, to visit her mother, an artist originally from Iraq.

While tenderly documenting her mother’s creative process and everyday life in America, Shihab finds her mother increasingly isolated. However, when her Iraqi refugee grandfather arrives on their doorstep, his presence raises deeper questions about belonging and identity.

Jaddoland is an intimate portrait of a mother through a daughter’s eyes, which raises questions about what we call home.
