‘Like a rave version of The Masons’
– Evening Standard
MK ULTRA dazzles with bright lights, flawless dancing and pounding trap music. Choreographer Rosie Kay combines her practice with projected film and visuals to create a bold commentary on the rise of conspiracy, and a completely new kind of dance work.
As millions of young people turn away from established political systems, MK ULTRA explores conspiracy and myth in popular culture, questioning who really is in control.
Taking its inspiration from the CIA code for the real LSD-fuelled brainwashing experiments by the US Military, Rosie Kay Dance Company‘s MK ULTRA shines a light on the Illuminati and temptations to cross to the dark side.
Featuring film work by acclaimed documentary maker Adam Curtis, costumes by Lady Gaga’s designer Gary Card, a gold mirrored stage, hypnotic triangular projections by Louis Price and a mesmerising score by electro-acoustic composer Annie Mahtani.
★★★★ “a postmodern fantasia…MK ULTRA asks important questions about the real and the fake, and whether, for a new generation, they’ve become one.” The Observer
★★★★ “Extraordinary….a super-saturated sensory feast of movement, sound and imagery” The Financial Times
