In Conversation with John Davies

To coincide with ‘Radical Landscapes’ on board the Art Explora Mobile Museum, in collaboration with Tate and MuMo

Kirkby Gallery
Kirkby Centre, Norwich Way, Kirkby, Knowsley L32 8XY

Thursday 27 April, 2 – 3pm

On Thursday 27 April 2023 join artist John Davies in conversation with Cherie Silver at Kirkby Gallery. Liverpool based photographer John Davies captures the British landscape in a permanent state of flux. His black and white photographs, taken since 1979 show the vast, complex and majestic scenery of post industrial and industrial Britain. He establishes centred and classical geometries within his unique vision that take on an almost magical and mystical appeal.

‘Agecroft Power Station’ on display in the Mobile Museum will be the starting point for this conversation, exploring John Davies’ journey as a photographer.

This event is part of the final week of the Mobile Museum’s 10-week tour of the Liverpool City Region. The Art Explora Mobile Museum in collaboration with Tate and MuMo is touring works from the national collection directly to communities in St Helens, Knowsley, Sefton, Wirral, Halton, and Liverpool.

The Mobile Museum, founded by Ingrid Brochard and designed by Matali Crasset, will tour a version of the exhibition Radical Landscapes, shown at Tate Liverpool in Summer 2022, featuring works by Turner, Constable, Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, John Nash and Jeremy Deller. The exhibition will also include works by leading contemporary artists including this year’s Turner Prize winner Veronica Ryan and shortlisted artist Ingrid Pollard.
