Pride is a Trans Led Protest

Pride Is A Trans Led Protest Launch Event

The exhibition Pride is a Trans Led Protest! curates work from transgender rights activists, community groups, grassroots activism, and trans and queer artists based in Liverpool and beyond. The exhibition firstly, a response to the Supreme Court ruling in April 2025 and secondly, a celebration of trans lives, history, activism, and joy. Featuring material from local movements to global trans activism, protest ephemera, community-led history projects, and queer artistic expression, this exhibition aims to capture a variety of emotions and actions across a complex community during times of precarity.Pride is a Trans Led Protest! celebrates trans as the very core of pride itself and the different responses to a myriad of ongoing threats and challenges against identity, wellbeing, access, and lives. Adding to Liverpool’s rich history of queer visibility and activism, a city so often at the forefront of political movements, Pride is a Trans Led Protest! places at the centre a commemoration of the city’s queerness and community in their key moment of June 1st trans-led protest; in hindsight, a pivotal moment for so many within the Liverpool trans and queer community.

Pride is a Trans Led Protest! is both a curation and a document, placing 2025 in a hyper-local and global context, including the weeks following the Supreme Court ruling, the different protests and moments of visibility, and the longer histories of trans activism that culminated in Liverpool Pride which, for the first time in its history, was trans led march.
