Exhibition will feature work by watercolour painter John West; graphic watercolour designer Irene Wilson; Impasto artist Brian Beattie; ceramics painter Nancy Marriner; photographer Gary Gray and oil painter Anton Dolders. Following a successful 2013 with exhibitions, demonstrations and various creative events taking place in vacant retail properties around Southport, the group has now managed to raise £5,800.46p to help provide care for those whose lives have been seriously affected by cancer.
Chair of Arts at Macmillan, Anton Dolders says “We are very thankful for this opportunity to continue showcasing work by local artists and to raise funds for the provision of care for those who desperately need it. Wayfarers Arcade management has always been very supportive of our cause as have many other retail and service industry outlets in Southport. Art For Macmillan relies on the generosity and charitable nature of local business management and ownership for its success.”
Art For Macmillan also has a number of events coming up, including poetry readings intended to provide local writers with the opportunity to test their skills in a live performance setting and are guaranteed the participation of some of the area’s most highly acclaimed practitioners; art, craft and design demonstrations taking place outside The Atkinson this Summer and continued exhibitions in TDF Café in Marble Place on Chapel Street. For further details regarding Art For Macmillan Cancer Support’s exhibitions and events look online at: www.artformacmillancancersupport.co.uk
