When Antony Gormley‘s ‘Field’ was exhibited in Tate Liverpool there were a mere 35,000 clay figures. Now its showing at the Sydney Biennale its increased to 180,000.
Although its an impressive number, judging by this picture I think I prefer the smaller version which I think looked good enclosed by the white walls and you could still see the individual figures.
The Liverpool figures were made in St Helens, these were made in Xianxian, China.
