IN ASSOCIATION WITH LOOK PHOTO BIENNIAL 2019, DISTINCTLY ARRIVES AT THE WILLIAMSON ART GALLERY.
This show takes a unique approach to the depiction of Britain and its distinct landscapes, industries, social and economic changes, cultural traditions, traits and events as seen through the eyes of ten of the most significant and impactful established and emerging photographers working in Britain over the last six decades: Martin Parr, Chris Killip, Markéta Luskačová, John Myers, Tish Murtha, Daniel Meadows, Ken Grant, Niall McDiarmid, Robert Darch and Kirsty Mackay.
The exhibition looks at the gentle, the humorous, the starkness, the beauty and the realities experienced and captured by the photographers around their lives living and working in Britain.
Distinctly runs at the Williamson from 27th September until 24th November and, like all Williamson exhibitions, is free. We are open Wednesday-Sunday 10am-5pm.
Part of LOOK Photo Biennial 2019, Distinctly is a bridge between chapter one and chapter two of the LOOK programme. This exhibition was first shown in China, at Pingyao Photography Festival.
