Who gets to tell the story of a city? An unusual trio of films aiming to do just that. Liverpool Sounding and Turn of the Tide are two short films commissioned by Liverpool’s Public Relations Office in 1966. One telling the city’s story as a musical capital (sound familiar?) the other told the tale of its docklands and industry. A far more recent (and more successful) tale from the city is by Roisin Burns with Passing Tides, a poem of a film focusing on musician Bill Ryder Jones.
