Frank Hampson – The Man who drew Dan Dare
Sat 15 September – Sat 16 March, Mon – Sat 10am – 4pm
Frank Hampson created ‘Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future’ in 1950, as the front page strip ‘that sold the Eagle’. In a short time it became phenomenally popular, with a million boys waiting expectantly each week for the next episode. Hampson went on to illustrate many of our best-loved children’s books for the Ladybird series. This exhibition features previously unseen work.
