“Northern Lands, Northern Settlers”,
by Clare Flinn
This collection of recent paintings reflects my love of the northern places of UK and Ireland, and the main elements that inspire me to paint: landform, colour and light. Almost unbidden, features of humankind began to appear in the pictures: at first a church or farmer’s fields, leading to villages on the edge of cliffs and viaducts sweeping across wide valleys, until the exhibition began to be about the powerful relationships between humans and the wild landscape.
I am a Liverpool based painter, working out of the Hub Studios in the Northern Lights building, by Cains’s Brewery. I recently completed a degree in Fine Art at Wirral Metropolitan College.
