“Figures in Abstract” by Peter Macaulay

Open evening Friday 30th September 2016 – from 7.30-9.30pm – All Welcome.
Exhibition will run from 1st October – 29th October 2016
This exhibition shows the artist at a peak in his artistic journey as he continues to explore what has for him, been a lifelong inspiration – The Human Figure. The figures are treated at all times to a degree of abstraction, expressive, yet with a solid geometry.

Drawing from various sources and influences, the work explores the form, sensuality and often humorous side to figure painting. This is coupled with the playful titles, namely ancient Greek, which add to the depth that lies beyond the apparently obvious.

Peter spent 25 years working in advertising and publishing. He helped develop business in Manchester and London: working on a variety of photographic and design assignments in the UK, Europe and America.

Creative Director for a number of companies, in 2000 he was able to give up working as Creative Head of Littlewoods to concentrate on creating his own images.

He has exhibited widely across the UK, including the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, plus galleries in London and St Ives. His work hangs in several private collections in both the UK and Europe. Winner of the Laird Memorial Prize and the Charles Oliver Award for painting, in 2012 he was invited to judge the annual exhibition of The National Acrylic Painter’s Association.
