John Elcock is a contemporary artist specialising in landscape painting. His work is figurative in nature and particularly interested in the symbolism of place and the special character of birds.
At the Reader Gallery in Calderstones Park, Liverpool from 27 February -5 March 2017, John will be exhibiting a selection of paintings completed on location in Italy and England together with some recent work created as artist-in-residence at Stiwdio Maelor, Wales.
The majority of the exhibition features watercolour paintings, as John explains: ‘Watercolour is an expressive and challenging medium but ideal for capturing the changing light and moods of the countryside. It’s a traditional medium but one that is equally exciting for contemporary landscape painting’
