Wednesday evenings starting 19th February, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.
£125 for 6 week course.
Suitable for both newcomers / beginners and for those continuing from previous courses, as the tutor will tailor the material to individual participants.
Programme:
The course is aimed at adults of any age, both beginners and the more advanced, who want to directly work from a human model or still life.
There will be a human model for most of the sessions, performing very short, short, and long poses giving the students a chance to practice drawing at various speeds. We also will make use of still life and/or sculpture as well as printed pictures to practice on specific skills.
The main method that is taught and practiced in the course is the traditional “stick measurement” and “sight-size drawing method”. However, the following topics will be covered throughout the course:
– The sight-size method versus the comparative method of drawing
– Using alignments, angles, relative proportions, and cross points in figure drawing
– Postural drawing and quick drawing
– Human body proportions
– Shades and values
– Foreshortening
– Using a grid
– Using a proportional divider

Cost:

Materials you must bring:

– Sketching paper, at least at A3 size, either in a hardback pad or as loose paper sheets. If you are getting loose paper sheets you will need a drawing board for support. You can find good quality pads at very reasonable prices in “The Works” and “Cass Art”.
– Selection of graphite pencils – H’s and B’s (eg. H2, HB, 2B, 6B)
– Masking tape for taping your paper onto the drawing board
– Rubber (soft – a kneadable eraser is preferable) and pencil sharpener
Recommended but not essential
– Portable easel
Important note: please don’t get a tabletop easel. It needs to be a standalone

Cancellations / Refunds
Once you have made your course booking you are committed to it. This is because our courses have very small student numbers, and often sell-out and are unavailable to others. Therefore any cancellations may result in a place not being filled, or a course not being able to run.
Cancellations are permitted up to 30 days before the start of a course, and a full refund will be issued. Refunds will not be made for cancellations less than 30 days before the start of a course. If you are unable to attend due to illness, personal or professional commitments you do not have the right to a refund.If you wish to cancel your place on a course that has not yet started and you have a friend or colleague who can take your place we can accommodate this substitution.
