Five finalists of the John Moores Painting Prize China have arrived in Liverpool for a three week residency.
The event, now in its third year, forms part of the Biennial cycle of programmes and connects to the John Moores Painting Prize, which opens soon at the Walker. The winning paintings have been transported over from China and will be displayed in the Walker with the finalists of the 2016 JMPP.
Five artists from China were finalists in this year’s painting prize and between them provide a broad and dynamic collection of art works.

The artists have spent their residency creating new works based on their experiences of being in Liverpool, and will be showing these at the John Lennon Art and Design Building, from Friday 1 to Sunday 10 July 2016.
The grand opening will take place between 18.00 – 20.00 on Tuesday 5 July 2016 in the Public Exhibition Space.
The event will be opened by Professor Nigel Weatherill, Vice Chancellor of LJMU, Professor Caroline Wilkinson, Director of the School of Art and Design, with a talk by one of the artists and Professor Ling Min, from the College of Fine Arts, Shanghai University.
