‘Sketching the City’ an urban sketching workshop
A day course introducing participants to sketching in an urban environment. There will be a studio session followed by some drawing exercises in the first half of the day. The second half will consist of a ‘Sketchwalk’ in the immediate environs of the VGM and concluding with a plenary back at the studio. This is a full day workshop so please bring your own lunch. In wet weather an alternative sketchwalk will be inside the VGM and the RC Cathedral.
Tutor: Paul Gatenby regularly exhibits in Liverpool and Edinburgh and is the founder of Liverpool Urban Sketchers. Primarily a figurative sculptor in ceramic, he also paints and is an advocate of drawing outdoors. He began teaching in the community in 1991 and has taught in Further Education and for the Tate and Walker art galleries.
