This Autumn, artist Harry Garner is returning to Kirkby Gallery to run a series of themed, individual oil painting workshops. The classes comprise of self contained sessions with all materials provided, culminating in a not to be missed two week Christmas special, focused on creating a painting to gift. You will be guided through the painting process from start to finish with some observational drawing techniques also covered.
Oil Painting Essentials Refresher
Friday 15 November, 10.30am to 12.30pm
Whether you’re new to it all or an old master, this still life session will be a great chance to develop some essential skills for painting. Colour matching, layering with oils and observational work will all be covered.
November Greys
Friday 22 November, 10.30am to 12.30pm
In this colour focused session, come and learn why greys in painting are actually incredibly colourful. This class will run through some useful colour theory, mixing techniques and how to apply this knowledge to a painting.
A Painting to Gift, Part 1
Friday 6 December, 10.30am to 12.30pm
Over two weeks these sessions will run through the painting process, step-by-step, from beginning to end. Everything from surface preparation to final glazes will be covered. This will produce some beautiful paintings for a very special Christmas gift.
A Painting to Gift, Part 2
Friday 13 December, 10.30am to 12.30pm
Finishing the paintings started in the previous session ready to gift them to someone special or make a new addition to your home.
