‘The Lack There Of’ will be an exhibition comprising a series of my most recent paintings that directly address the themes outlined in this year’s LIVERPOOL Biennial programme.
This series of work utilises the outsourcing of decisions around fundamental components of painting(s); such as form, composition or scale, to found objects. These objects are selected for their symbolic potency and their implicit pertinence to notions of ownership (and therefor authorship) and of a chronologic OR geographic contingency or ambiguity i.e that they might belong, or have belonged to a particular time or place, or to a particular person.
