Another Day is a collaborative project between curator Francesca Fryer and artist Aaron Jolley, exploring how the everyday can be perceived and engaged with through processes of care, facilitation, and nostalgia. This project will culminate in an exhibition of paintings, at Elevator Studios (access via Arts Bar Baltic) in Liverpool in May 2025.

Aaron’s work is inspired by his observations of the everyday- rooftops, reflections in windows, and the quiet intimacy of spaces we inhabit. They resonate with universal experiences, allowing even those unfamiliar with contemporary art to connect with the work. The exhibition will create an environment where everyone, regardless of background, can feel comfortable and engaged, and demonstrate how creativity can emerge from the mundane, offering a fresh perspective on art’s role in community life.

The exhibition will be complemented by events designed to foster connection, discussion, and create a welcoming space for community engagement. These will aim to break down barriers often associated with galleries, making the art experience more accessible. These activities include:
– Performance Event at Arts Bar Baltic, where we will have three artists performing commissioned performance art pieces in response to themes in the exhibition, as well as two bands perform.
– Pop-up Exhibition at Blooming Skull Coffee, where extra paintings, drawings, and research will be temporarily displayed for an evening. Aaron will also be doing quick-fire portrait drawings for people.
– Painting Workshop at Make On The Corner in Huyton, where Francesca and Aaron will lead a small painting workshop to engage people in the creative process .
– Artist talk and casual Q&A in the gallery space, led by Francesca and Aaron.
