Community.

The much-loved Wirral MakeFest is back for its third annual celebration
of creativity, innovation, and community! Taking place on Saturday, May
10th, from 10am to 4pm at the beautiful Birkenhead Central Library, this
free, one-day festival invites curious minds of all ages to discover,
make, and be inspired.

Wirral MakeFest 2025 will once again transform the library into a
vibrant hub of imagination, with hands-on workshops, eye-opening demos,
and engaging exhibits spanning science, technology, engineering, arts,
and mathematics (STEAM). This year’s event continues to champion
sustainability as a central theme, offering something for everyone – from
tech enthusiasts and artists to crafters, scientists, and hobbyists.

What to Expect:

Interactive Workshops (drop-in and scheduled): Get hands-on with coding,
3D printing, and eco-friendly innovation. Returning favourites include
Eureka! Science + Discovery with their fun and informative “From Chew to
Poo” presentation, and Port Sunlight Village Trust’s engaging SoapWorks.
Maker Exhibits: Explore a showcase of creativity, technology, and DIY
culture.

  • Live Demos: Be amazed by demonstrations from local and UK-based makers,
including virtual electronics and model making.
  • Creative Activities: Try your hand at Lego building, crafting,
    upcycling, and experimental projects.
  • Pop-Up Café: Enjoy delicious treats at our inclusive café in the
    library foyer.
Community Connections: Meet fellow makers, innovators, and dreamers from
the Wirral and beyond.

Wirral MakeFest has grown into more than just a one-day celebration —
it’s a year-round, community-powered initiative that nurtures curiosity,
encourages learning, and builds a culture of creativity and innovation.
Run by four passionate directors — Alison, John, Jules, and Tony —
Wirral MakeFest is committed to making STEAM accessible and inclusive
for all ages and abilities through outreach programs, educational
partnerships, and collaborative events.
