Liverpool Hope Alumnus and staff member exhibit their creative side
A Liverpool Hope alumnus and a current member of Liverpool Hope staff are holding their first joint art exhibition at the University’s on-site Cornerstone Gallery.
Work by Dr. Karen Wilson, Corporate IT Systems Developer at Liverpool Hope, and Peter Waters, a former student of Christ’s College (one of Liverpool Hope’s founding institutions), is on display now until Sunday 20th September.
Dr Wilson and Mr Waters are part of the Teaching the Eye to See art group which is based at the university. After many years of exhibiting as part of the wider group, Dr Wilson and Mr Moore decided to produce an exhibition together.
Dr Wilson’s works are from her ‘Urban Delights’ collection – outdoor scenes that have delighted her on various paths through Liverpool. Most images are of trees and avenues, and she has explored a variety of techniques to keep the views fresh. Dr Wilson has been a member of the Teaching the Eye to See group since 1998. She has an Art Foundation Degree, a HND in Fine Craft and a PhD on the process of Furniture Manufacturing.
Mr Waters will exhibit a selection of the work done in recent years. Mr Waters was a student at Christ’s College from 1967 – 1970, studying for the Certificate in Education. He qualified in 1970 gaining Distinctions in Art, Geography and the Practice of Teaching. He spent his career as a teacher and headteacher in primary schools across Liverpool, where he placed particular emphasis on the development of a creative curriculum through which children’s interests and abilities in the arts could develop and flourish.
