Rising Darkness
BrigitteĀ Jurack

Exhibition

Brigitte Jurack presents a suite of drawings, objects, writings and the design for a new floor mosaic. Challenged by current affairs, literature, landscape and European history, the stark work engages with memories of military occupations, imperial landgrabs and land reclamations.

Drop-in Workshops

As part of the ā€˜Rising Darkness’ exhibition by Brigitte Jurack there are opportunities to join the artist in making a shared mosaic.Ā Historical evidence suggests that major mosaic schemes were undertaken by teams of people who shared the time-consuming task of slowly laying out the design on the floors of domestic houses, temples or assembly halls.Ā This new mosaic is inspired by an unswept floor found in a Roman villa in Aquileia but isĀ politicisedĀ toĀ includeĀ modern debris and specially trained landmine-sniffing rats.
