Programme
This 10 week course will cover a broad range of textile and craft based skills which can be used for artistic projects.
- Wet feltmaking – 2D felting with Japanese Nuno felting, 3D felting (bowls, purses, bird nests)
- Dry/ Needle felting
- Hand painting onto fabric
- Batik
- Quilting
- Shibori
- Lino print onto fabric
- Hand stitch techniques
Tutor: Catherine Carmyllie
The tutor – Catherine Carmyllie is a Liverpool based Artist currently working across painting and textile art. She completed a Textile Art degree at Huddersfield University before spending 6 months at The Arts and Crafts Academy of Kuopio, Finland where she had the opportunity to learn ancient Scandinavian skills such as bookbinding, weaving, feltmaking amongst others. Catherine regularly teaches workshops.

Situated in the centre of Liverpool, just behind Church Street, down Church Alley and in front of Liverpool ONE. You can enter the building via the front courtyard off School Lane, or through the garden at the back off College Lane. Nearest train station – Liverpool Central.

£160 for 10 week course.

Materials:
Students will need to bring their own materials to work with including the following essentials:
- pencil, pen and sketch pad
- fabric scissors
- a range of sizes of sewing needles and cotton (black/white)
- tape measure
- set of fabric paints for all fabric qualities – minimum of 3 colours (recommend Pebeo Setacolour) with 3 to 4 different size brushes.
Project specific materials & equipment are provided and will be shared in the group. The tutor will provide a summary of what will be needed each week giving students chance to bring along their own materials & equipment to experiment with.
