The Rathbone Studio: Advent in Art

30 November  2012– 1 January  2013

Viewing: 30 November

Now that the leaves are falling and the air is becoming crisp, our thoughts are turning to Christmas. The Rathbone Studio presents Advent in Art an open art exhibition which will welcome inspired artworks showcasing the breadth of skills and creative talent of local artists.

Christmas means so many things to us all and throughout history including the magical illustrations in Charles Dickens’s Christmas books by John Leech,  artists have celebrated the spirit of this magical season on canvas  illuminating their own feelings and stories. This open exhibition invites artist to submit up to two pieces inspired by Christmas and what it means to them.

It may mean tinsel and snow scenes, turkey and mulled wine to some, and to others, visions of the nativity or loved ones far away at war and the comfort of family and old friends. Who knows how controversial this exhibition will be?

The exhibition will be held, throughout Advent, at the new Rathbone Studio, which has established itself as the most high profile and dynamic independent art space in the Wirral featured earlier this year on Granada Reports and in dozens of press articles.

Private view Friday 30th November 2012

Exhibition opens Tuesday to Saturday 3.00pm – 6.00pm from Saturday 1st December – Saturday 5th January 2013. (Except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day)
