Due to popular demand, Liverpool artist Adrian Jeans is re-showing The Craft of Art and the near identical sculptures An Allegory of Death & Destruction and An Allegory of Life & Creation, a continuation of his exploration into how character, personality and persona are perceived, projected and constructed
The dramatic, life-size works also look at Liverpool’s changing character by uncannily portraying renowned local model Sue Lee, who has Chinese and English ancestry, and rubble scavenged from Victorian houses in Liverpool built as the city expanded and now being demolished as it regenerates, a process that has divided local opinion. Jeans says “I wanted to use my art to look at how the regeneration process was radically changing where I live.”
Jeans is also exhibiting Nice Heads at 42 Nelson St, L1 5DN, 3 July – 26 October.
