Winners have been announced! Overall winner is
David Jacques and People’s Choice award goes to James Quin.
Exhibition featuring the five short-listed artists competing for the £2000 prize +the opportunity to exhibit their work at the Walker Art Gallery or the £1000 People’s Choice award. Artists: Gina Czarnecki, David Jacques, James Quin, Paul Rooney and Emily Speed.

About the Liverpool Art Prize
Artinliverpool.com founded the Liverpool Art Prize in early 2008, one of the first major visual art events in the Capital of Culture’s year and the first exhibition to be held at the Novas Contemporary Urban Centre. It is now a firmly established part of Liverpool’s annual visual art diary.
It is an annual exhibition and award for artists from or based in the Liverpool City Region. Created by artinliverpool.com, the Prize has attracted sponsors from the local business community.
The 2009 prize was won by AL and AL with the People’s Choice going to Elizabeth Willow.
The 2008 prize was won by Imogen Stidworthy with the People’s Choice going to the Singh Twins.

About Metal at Edge Hill Station
Metal was founded by Jude Kelly OBE in 2002 and provides innovative, multi-disciplinary residency space for artists from the UK and overseas in Liverpool and Southend on Sea. Edge Hill Station is the world’s oldest standing passenger railway station, still in use, and it possesses a proud history of innovation, aspiration and technology.

Metal recently completed a major renovation of the Engine House, Boiler Room and Accumulator Tower at Edge Hill Station, after successfully raising capital funding from Kensington Regeneration, Merseytravel, Northern Rail, Railway Heritage Trust and Network Rail.
The new cultural and creative hub launched in October 2009 with the exhibition ‘XXX: Get Off at Edge Hill’ curated by the 2009 Liverpool Art Prize winners AL and AL.

New Venue
This year Artinliverpool are working in partnership with Metal. The exhibition will be taking place at the exciting new space for art, Metal at Edge Hill Station (the World’s oldest passenger railway station still in use).

The Exhibition
The 2010 exhibition opens on Friday 4 June (Viewing on 3 June) and ends on Saturday 10 July with the Awards Ceremony taking place on Wednesday 30 June.

The exhibition will be curated by Jenny Porter, the Project Manager at Metal.

The Prizes
The overall winner will be awarded £2000 plus (new from this year) the opportunity to exhibit their work at the Walker Art Gallery at a later date. There will also be the £1000 People’s Choice Award chosen by the public voting at the gallery.
