15 – 30 July 2011 at Godfrey Pilkington Gallery – ‘The First 60 Years’  Paul Cousins
Exhibition preview: Thursday 14 July 6.00-8.00pm
A graduate from the Liverpool College of Art in 1972, Paul Cousins finds constant inspiration from the region’s visual diversity, from the early morning mist on the River Mersey to the evening sun reflecting on Princes Park lake, or from the endless coastline at Crosby with its Western horizons and big skies to the shadow of the power station plumes to the East.
Over the decades, his paintings have progressed and matured through a number of changes in subject matter, process and presentation with a style consistent within the study of light and colour underpinned with a total commitment to the drawing process.
This retrospective serves to demonstrate the personal journey he has taken in the pursuit of a visual truth that reflects the world around him, both real and imagined.
This will be the first time he has attempted to bring all the strands of his work together in one venue.
