The Postcards will be subject to a blind auction to raise funds for The Artists’ Benevolent Institution (AGBI) and Global Hope. The exhibition and auction is made possible by the generosity of all artists and bidders who take part. There have been three very successful events to date with the last raising over £3,000.00.

Whilst a list of all contributors is included within the exhibition, the names are not matched to the individual postcards hence the ‘blind’ in ‘blind auction’ and the investigative challenge to all. Once all postcards have been successfully auctioned the names are then matched to the postcards and posted on the Gallery website for all to see.

Due to previous global contributions from artists the blind auction will be broadcast live on Liverpool Hope University’s on-line Hope Radio.

Previous contributors’ include many local artists, Tracey Emin RA, Sir Peter Blake RA, Paul O’Grady, Alexei Sayle and ex-Everton FC Manager David Moyes, who have all contributed to Liverpool’s prestigious cultural life and continuing development.

About the charities

The Artists’ General Benevolent Institution is one of the oldest charities in the UK helping artists since its foundation by J. M. W.Turner in 1814. It assists professional artists, sculptors, painters and designers, who, through accident, illness or old age, cannot work and earn. Widows and orphaned children of artists are also eligible.

Global Hope is Liverpool Hope University’s overseas education charity using University resources to support the educational development of communities overseas. In particular this means using the University’s expertise in learning and teaching, research and subject knowledge to work alongside partners in developing countries to appropriately meet their educational needs. This approach is grounded in the principle of reciprocity. A commitment to these relationships over the longer term has enabled genuine partnerships to develop. As a result, a deeper level of cross-cultural understanding now exists between Global Hope and its partners across three continents.
