Body and Soul / Nature Unplugged
11 January 2011 – 21 February 2011
Demonstration day – FRIDAY 4 February. 10.00am – 12.30pm / 2.00pm – 4.00pm
Cheshire based Ceramicist Janet Holmes celebrates clay in its natural almost raw form unglazed and sensually textured. Her exhibition in Gallery 3 at Castle Park Arts Centre in Frodsham to be held in January and February is her first in Cheshire since relocating there.
People often feel drawn to handle her work as if inspired by a primitive urge to embrace their tactile curves and shapes. More than once Janet has raised a blush or two with her highly provocative sculptures but it is not shock tactics that she employs. She creates what she feels and the individual responds to the piece bringing their own perception. This response when its meets with Janet’s expectations is the artistic accomplishment.
60’s icon and cultural magpie John Gorman (Scaffold) always has an eye for the quixotic and loves Janet’s work and is to showcase her in 2011.
