Following the most successful festival in its history, Africa Oyé are looking to make sure its fans get one final (and literal) taste of Oye this summer with ‘The Africa Oyé Summer Cook Out’!

In the heart of Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle, District (and its new garden annexe) will play host to an evening of reggae and Caribbean food, welcoming back roots legends Culture to the venue after their sell-out performance last year.

Culture have been performing for nearly 40 years and are critically considered one of the most authentic traditional reggae acts in the world. At the time of the first Rolling Stone Record Guide publication, they were the only band of any genre whose every recording received a five-star review (of bands with more than one recording in the guide). Legendary DJ, John Peel described Culture’s live session in 1982 as among the very best recorded for his show, calling it “one of the great sessions recorded for this programme over the years”. Fronting the legendary group at District will be Kenyatta Hill, son of founding member Joseph Hill.

They will be joined on stage by The Rasites, who have generated some of the most exuberant displays of singing, DJing and live musicianship the UK reggae scene has seen in years.

The Caribbean food on the night will be provided by the fantastic Trenchtown Truck Co. Their street food is fast becoming the stuff of legend in the city; where else could you get quinoa-battered white fish rolled in a hot dog bun with sweet potato chips accompanied by a dill & red cabbage tartar slaw?

With District’s new garden Annexe providing the perfect ambience, this evening of quality Caribbean music and cuisine is not one to be missed!

Tickets available at Skiddle and SeeTickets and in person at Dr Herman’s on Bold Street, Liverpool.
