Presented by special arrangement with Helen Merrill Ltd. of New York
and
JOSEF WEINBERGER Ltd of London.

This groundbreaking off-broadway smash and cult movie tells the story of “internationally ignored song stylist” Hedwig Schmidt: rock & roll Goddess and victim of a gruesomely botched sex-change operation.

The unique and heartbreaking story is performed by Hedwig (né Hansel) in the form of a rock gig backed by her band The Angry Inch. It begins in East Berlin when Hansel meets Luther, an American GI who promises to take Hansel back to the States on the condition that he change his sex and become Hedwig.

This tragic tale of abject love, loneliness, gender confusion and the notion that sex is the effort to reconnect two halves of one ideal being is presented in a stunning new production by Lodestar Theatre Company made specifically for The Kazimier – the coolest nightclub in Liverpool.

Also on the bill are shameless burlesque dancers Jessica and the Rabbits and the party will carry on after the show with eclectic sets from some of Liverpool’s best DJs

Shows at 7.30pm 26th May – 5th June 2010 except Sunday
