Big Brother is coming to Liverpool

Tell Tale Theatre is proud to present a powerful, theatrical adaptation of George Orwell’s classic and ever resonant 1984. Runs 1-3 March 2011 at The Kazimier, Wolstenholme Square, Liverpool.

1984 is the story of Winston Smith, an unsettled and rebellious member of a dystopian society ruled by Big Brother. He spends his evenings dreaming of days gone by, a time when freedom was the freedom to say that 2+2 makes 4 and when people were free to choose their own destiny. He is alone. His true thoughts contained within the few square inches inside his head. Will Winston’s inevitable search allow him to hold onto his truth? Will he renounce his individuality and love Big Brother?
This dynamic interpretation has been adapted for stage by Tell Tale Theatre through a process of division, experimentation and script development.  A multimedia production that combines drama, choreography, film, recorded and live sound. Immersive and stimulating, shocking and provoking, no two audience members will have the same experience. This is the first project by Liverpool’s brand new community and voluntary Merseyside-based Theatre Company.

Emma Smith, Director said:
‘As a group, we have embarked upon a remarkable journey. What started with a room of strangers is now an established theatre company. We eagerly anticipate opening our doors to share our work. It’s what we’ve all been waiting for.’

Leanne Jones, Producer said:
‘We are beyond excited to invite our local community to be a part of our first ever theatrical adventure. This production is a testament to the power of local people coming together and working creatively – generating something to be proud of.’
