Funding Success for 20 Stories High

Funding success for Liverpool-based arts project

Liverpool-based theatre company 20 Stories High are running a participatory project with young refugees at Liverpool Community College thanks to a generous grant from the Community Foundation for Merseyside.

The project is called ‘Solo’ and sees the 20 Stories High team working with a group of students aged 14-16, who have come to Liverpool as refugees. The team are running a series of workshops involving drama, poetry, storytelling, rap and music – leading towards a devised performance.

The money, awarded from the Community Foundation’s Local Network Fund, will help pay for materials and equipment as well as enabling the company to involve additional professional artists on the project. Julia Samuels, Co-Artistic Director for 20 Stories High says ‘this grant has allowed us to enlist the talents of Chanje Kunda and Frisko, who are key talents in Manchester’s performance poetry scene. Not only are they inspiring role models for young people, but their skills will encourage the creation of top-quality work that the participants can really be proud of.’
