The Equator Space, Mann Island: Transatlantic Data

stitch24 – 26 May 2013

‘Transatlantic Data’ is a public engagement performance taking place at The Equator Space, Mann Island, Liverpool Waterfront, Liverpool, L3 1BP,, this weekend, 24 / 25 / 26 May 2013. 10:00 – 17:00 daily.

Artist Clare Brumby invites you to stitch a Senninbari (literally translated as ‘thousand person stitch’ but widely know as ‘thousand
person belt’).

Stitchers are invited to sew one French Knot into the cloth individually. If you were born in the Year of the Tiger (2010, 1998,
1986, 1974, 1962, 1950, 1938) you can sew 12 stitches or the number of stitches that match your age.

‘Transatlantic Data’ is a site-specific collaboration, connecting themes of battle, immigration, new beginnings and surrender of the
ego, questioning our relationship with ourselves and others, how we connect, and how we can let go of the past, and focus on the present and the future.

Stitching will commence at 10:00 on Friday 24 May 2013 (best time to get there on that day) and will continue over the Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 to 17:00 daily.
