This symposium will include presentations by Matej Mateka and the members of Studio Matejka, reflecting on the relevance of research and experimentation in the contemporary performance world and the lineage of their practice continuing in The Grotowski Institute in Poland. Includes round table discussion with speakers from the artistic and academic community of the North West. Discussion topics include discourse on theatre, dance, performance art, identity politics, Polish and European theatre models, composition and the body, and sustainable art practices.
Other Speakers: Elinor Randle – Artistic Director, PhysicalFest; Professor Dariusz Kosinski – formerly of the Grotowski Institute in Poland; Jo Blowers – Liverpool Improvisation Collective; Ben Spatz – University of Huddersfield; Paula Simms – Lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University; George McKane – Yellow House.
