Art For Macmillan Cancer Support will be opening Cambridge Walks Gallery in Southport, ready for the summer season. Working in collaboration with community interest company: Make It Workshop whose retro and vintage emporium has already rekindled public interest in Cambridge Walks after years of desertion, a group of Merseyside based artists intends to raise much needed funds to help provide care for people and communities effected by cancer.
The gallery’s collection of art will include everything from watercolour landscapes to extreme abstract representation and feature work by artists from all over the district including renowned Liverpool artists: James Cosgrove, Daniel John, Frank Moore, Dave Garnett, Sid Jarrett and photographers Karen Brookman, Mike Parr and Gary Gray along with Sefton based artists: John West, Anne Wilson, Brian Beattie, Deb Campbell, Daniel Adler, Sylvia Alexander, Anton Dolders and Walter Fairclough. There is also a fabulous display of hand painted fabrics, ceramics and jewelry.
As well as exhibiting and selling their work, participating artists will also demonstrate their skills and there will be opportunities for people of all ages to test their own creative abilities. Anyone is welcome to join in with drawing and painting and all art materials will be provided at the gallery. Entry is free but participation in events will require a donation to Macmillan. The first of these events will take place on Saturday 23 May from 11am and will continue every following Saturday.
There will also be live poetry and music performances occurring in Cambridge Walks Gallery. Art For Macmillan has staged a number of fundraising shows featuring some of the best local literary and musical talent and is grateful for their support. We value the involvement of artists of all creative media ranging from dancers to storytellers and have worked with some of the best in the region.
