The RESPECTacles artwork at the Town Hall closes on Saturday January 26 2008. Do try and see it if you can, quite apart from the serious points it makes about the holocaust and the number of people murdered by the Nazis its a stunning installation.
In the large hall with huge mirrors at either end it gives the impression of the piles of donated spectacles and the mock railway track stretching into infinity.
There are well over the 100,000 pairs of glasses that the organisers hoped for. Several donated by celebrities including Yoko Ono, Elton John, Ringo, Tony Blair, Harry Potter etc .etc.
There are also smaller exhibitions relating to the holocaust in the adjoining rooms.
