Photoblog: Liverpool Open Studios 2010, Day 2

A shame about the rain this afternoon, it must have discouraged a few people but we managed to get around the rest of the studios taking part in the Liverpool Open Studios weekend.

We returned to Ilsa Parry’s REthinkthings design studio first to see all her prototypes including ‘flo’, ‘spyke’ ‘ and ‘spierre’ as well as the Kaspa light which is now retailing in several places.

Then we saw the stalls in the Make Sundays art & craft event in Leaf before going up to the Elevator artists studios on the 3rd floor and Arena on the 1st floor. Saw lots of really good art here and chatted to some of the artists. We heard about some exciting projects coming up this year. Next we drove to Alex Corina’s Garston Art Works which is both studio and gallery in one, a good chance to see the current exhibition of paintings by Phil Dowling and and wood turned objects by Mike Rule.

Finally we braved the heavy rain to catch up with events at the Bluecoat where we were able to learn more about screen-printing and intaglio and talk to artist Markus Soukup who shares a studio with Katriona Beales.

So an interesting and informative weekend, it was good exercise too. The studios weren’t exaclty packed out with visitors but most seemed to have a steady flow of people.
