I can’t keep up with Dot Art these days, new venues keep popping up. This one at Mere Grange in St Helens looks really nice.

New Gallery Launches with “A Celebration of Colour”

dot-art is delighted to announce the launch of our new exhibition space, The Mere Grange Gallery in St Helens. The first exhibition to be held in the gallery is a group show entitled “A Celebration of Colour”, featuring the work of thirteen artists from across the region, which launched on Thursday 20th May 2010.

The 4000 square foot Mere Grange Gallery is situated at the Mere Grange Business Park, in a prime position off the A570, close to Junction 7 of the M62. There is ample free parking and Lea Green train station is close by. The gallery will host a varied quarterly exhibition program featuring a wide range of artists.

Laura Clarke, curator of “A Celebration of Colour”, explains the selection of work:
“I set out to showcase how the talented artists in our region utilise colour in their work in different ways. From obviously colourful abstract works to the subtle uses of colour in photography and bold brush strokes of more figurative paintings, this exhibition brings together a collection of artwork that might not normally be seen together in an exhibition setting. However, each artist’s dramatic use of colour draws the works together; a good artist knows how to use colour to his or her advantage, using the right camera lens to take a photograph, or the particular shade of a colour in a painting can transform an artwork from the ordinary to the other-worldly.”

The participating artists are: Graeme Murray, Matthew Thomas, Michelle Burrows, Sophie Green, Journeyboy, Mick Gill, Nathan Pendlebury, Paul Francis, John Jennings, Dave Bullock, Andrew Collin, James Lavott and Grahame Ashcroft.

The “Celebration of Colour” exhibition is open to the public by appointment only (including evenings and weekends), at The Mere Grange Gallery, Unit 101, Mere Grange, Leaside, St Helens, WA9 5GG, from Friday 21st May to Friday 20th August.

Please call 0845 017 6660 or email info@dot-art.com for more information or to make an appointment. All work is for sale and admission is free.
