Other recommended shows in Manchester at the moment – the sculptures are amazing. Most of Ron Mueck’s are larger than life but the spooning couple are very small yet so realistic you expect them to move at any time.
I think we have seen Yoshitomo Nara’s studio installation about 4 times now in different places. The suspended fibreglass figures by He An inspired by kung fu fight scenes from The Matrix are quite cool.

Frank Cohen’s art collection
Sometimes called the ‘Saatchi of the North’, Frank Cohen is one of the most important art collectors in the UK today. His collection of contemporary art contains over a thousand works by major international artists, as well as works from emerging contemporary artists.
Since 1997, Frank Cohen’s art collection has been his full-time occupation. In 2003 Cohen was a judge on the panel for the Turner Prize. In 2007 he opened Initial Access, an exhibition space to present works from his collection to the public. Works from the Frank Cohen Collection have also previously been shown at Tate, the Guggenheim, New York and the Art Institute of Chicago.

Ron Mueck’s hyper-real sculptures of the human figure are tender portrayals of people in their most intimate, isolated and vulnerable moments. This exhibition features three of his remarkable, out of scale sculptures: Wild Man, 2005; Spooning Couple, 2005; and Mask III, 2005.
Australian-born, London-based artist Ron Mueck began his career as a model maker and puppeteer for children’s television – working with creator of The Muppets Jim Henson on shows such as Sesame Street, and on films including Labyrinth.
