This is great fun. Its a 3D animation with extras but too much description would spoil it a bit for visitors. Opening this Saturday 18 July 2009 in the new Pier Head Ferry Terminal as part of the now quite large Beatles Story attraction. You need to hold onto your seat – Mrs J lost a sandal half way through – and make full use of all your senses.
3D glasses are supplied of course, it lasts about 10 minutes, there aren’t any of the actual Beatles in it as its all animation and the songs are cover versions but quite well done. I want to go back again.
You can only see it as part of the overall tour which now also includes the White Feather exhibition in the same building as well as all the stuff in Albert Dock so you get a lot for your money.
The Fab4D animation was created using the same cutting edge technology that has propelled hit movies like ‘Monsters Vs. Aliens’ to cinema screens. Red Star 3D, a 3D film effects studio which recently won the Best Children’s Film Award at the Stuttgart Animation Festival 2008, wrote, produced and directed the animation. Simulation specialists Simworx installed the Beatles Story’s 4D effects theatre.
