It was difficult to take pictures at the Private View of the latest show at The Gallery Liverpool as it was so packed with people. Many of them were buying too, red dots were appearing everywhere.
So for a new commercial gallery it seems this one has got off to a great start with the radical, some may say controversial, ‘Body Landscapes‘ by Stephanie de Leng being followed by this Christmas Art exhibition of far more traditional styles.
This is a group show, I think they are all local artists but Lynda Roberts shows mixed media collages of places she has visited such as Venice and Huw Lewis-Jones has rugged North Wales landscapes alongside Liverpool’s Hope Street.
Michael Treanor’s watercolours are particularly good and I’m sure Steve William’s paintings of ferries and ships on the Mersey will be popular – he has a solo show here next month.
Alan Joyce is also adept at painting scenes from his neighbourhood such as Formby sands whilst Sophie Green provides a contrast with her more loose, bright, contemporary figures.
There are several more artists involved, it’s a big show, all good. Take a look before it ends on 18th December and take your cheque book – there’s still plenty for sale and they’ll be a welcome gift for Christmas.
