LGBT singles night at Maritime Museum

LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL AND TRANSGENDER SINGLES NIGHT
Merseyside Maritime Museum

National Museums Liverpool is hosting a fabulous opportunity for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender singles to soak up culture while meeting new people between 6 till 8pm Friday 1 September 2006 at Merseyside Maritime Museum.

Single in the City’s first LGBT singles night includes tours of the Merseyside Maritime Museum’s latest exhibition Hello Sailor!, music, entertainment, a complimentary drink and entry to an exclusive after-show party at the Pan American bar.

Hello Sailor! examines crew life on passenger and merchant ships between the 1950s and 1980s when being at sea was one of the few places gay men could be themselves. Gay culture has been a feature of seafaring life for centuries but even today it is still a taboo subject. Hello Sailor! reveals this hidden history for the first time in a major museum.

Single in the City is a popular event for the singletons of the North West, taking place in different cultural organisations across Liverpool. Set in stimulating locations the events create a relaxed environment- perfect for meeting like-minded people and making new friends.

Tickets to the event cost just £5 each. Places are limited so please book in advance. For more information or to book your place call 0151 478 4616 or email events@liverpoolmuseums.org.uk.
