A good crowd at Good Taste on Wednesday evening for the viewing of James Cosgrove’s exhibition.
Good Taste opened in late 2004 in Stafford St. behind TJ Hughes as a gallery, shop and small cafe but this is their first organised exhibition of a single artist.
The works take up most of two walls in the good sized gallery space on the first floor. Liverpool based Cosgrove has explored several different styles and techniques recently and they’re all on display here. My own favourites are the rugged landscapes of Scottish scenes painted in strong colours and thick strokes of oil paints.
The gallery stocks work by several other local artists including very good watercolours by the ever-popular Nick Grant all at very reasonable prices.
On the ground floor is a friendly cafe serving teas, coffees and basic snacks as well as the ‘best hot chocolate in Liverpool’ and a well stocked shop for gifts, jewellery, ceramics and even small items of furniture.
James Cosgrove at Good Taste Gallery until September 10th 2006
